ERA Health Policy

1. The Future of the Emsworth Surgery and the EVCH hospital site.

The ERA actively supported efforts to develop a new surgery on the EVCH site for the Emsworth Medical Practice for over five years. The Practice eventually decided that the terms offered by NHS Property Services were unacceptable, but have now agreed to revisit this, along with the CCG. We would again support a surgery on this site if this option can provide a sustainable future for the practice.

However if this does not prove possible we believe the site should still be developed for the benefit of the community. We support the Emsworth Community Land Trust, Charles Ashe and myself are members of the committee, and at our last QGM the ERA approved a grant of £500 towards start up costs. The Trust would be aiming to be able to ensure that the site is used for  community uses, including health and wellbeing, and for affordable housing. It is in discussions with Housing Associations and HBC to explore how this can be achieved.

2. Health and Community Services in Emsworth.

We would like to see a full range of services that meet the needs of the population available in Emsworth. These services include not only general practice, but also those provided by community and mental health services, as well as by charities and mental health groups.

3.Information and Public Consultation

We believe that the public should be fully informed and involved in these issues. The ERA publishes the EMS and has included news and articles by interested groups, and will continue to do so. Our QGMs have also provided opportunities for speakers and discussions.
